Garden Theft at Age Concern Northumberland

24/11/2009

We are disappointed to have to report that we have suffered a theft.

Over the weekend of 21st - 23rd August 2009, thieves came into the new garden of Phase 2 of The Round House and stole 3 park benches that were part of our new memorial garden.

We had taken steps to try to prevent this type of incident happening by bolting them to the flagstones; but this did not deter the thieves. They have unbolted them and made off with them over the fence and onto the main road. This cannot have been done by a single individual as the benches were heavy and would have also required transport to remove them from the scene.

The benches are quite distinctive - Orinoco wood - they also have metal brackets at the base of the legs where they were bolted into the ground.

Northumbria Police are obviously doing all they can to try to return the property to us and apprehend the thieves, but our plea goes out to all reading this – if you have any information relating to this theft, please contact Northumbria Police on 03456 043 043.
